QDS 5331 Applied Epidemiology

This course will introduce fundamental epidemiological concepts with emphasis on its practical application and apply them to demonstrate their utility in improving various aspects of public health. Problems discussed will be based on historical advances in the field of epidemiology and cover a broad range of timely public health issues including outbreak investigations, risks associated with lifestyle choices, water safety, rural health, school health, and mental health. The student will experience firsthand how epidemiology is applied and what opportunities await epidemiologists interested in improving public health.
