GC 5209 Genetic Counseling Skills III

This course builds upon the genetic counseling skills class during the student's first year. The course includes discussion surrounding complex topics in genetic counseling, professional issues and standards of practice, and inclusion within the field. The course will also cover relevant medical sociology topics related to social construction of health, experience of illness, and the impact of the healthcare system structure on genetic counseling topics. Learners will engage in weekly peer supervision with faculty to discuss fieldwork experiences and process challenging topics with their colleagues.
