GC 5101 Genetic Counseling Peer Supervision

This course will leverage peer supervision to hone genetic counseling skills and competencies. This course is rooted in the definition of supervision as a relationship in which one's skills/professional identity are enhanced by interaction with others. Students will learn and apply central tenets of clinical supervision towards self-reflective practice and fostering skill development with their peers. Weekly discussions with faculty leadership provide space for self-reflection and discussion of experiences in fieldwork, supervision, and interdisciplinary settings. In addition, discussions of approaches to counseling in a culturally appropriate and responsive manner will occur.
