HPSA 5301 Social Determinants of Health

This course is designed to increase students' awareness, knowledge, and understanding of issues related to behavioral, psychological, environmental, economic, structural, and historic factors that contribute to population health and health inequities. We will discuss key roles of health professionals in ensuring equitable treatment at multiple levels of influence to enhance population health and reduce health inequities through opportunities to practice skill building. The course utilizes case studies, deliberative dialogue, didactic learning, and active listening strategies.
