PED 2115 AMBULATORY CARE PEDIATRICS

PED 2115 is a course created to allow interested students to take a Pediatric Ambulatory clinic rotation in the following clinics for 4-weeks:  Child Neurology (Rana Said, MD)  Adolescent & Young Adult Medicine Clinic (Jennifer Walsh, MD and May Lau, MD)  Private Practice Clinic (Various Practitioners) Students will be integral members of the clinic teams. While working with the clinic team, students will participate in outpatient medical evaluations of pediatric patients. Students will also spend time in the clinic evaluating and treating children with various chronic illnesses. The patient population will include children of all ages. The students’ clinical experience will include participating in: outpatient clinic evaluations, outpatient medical evaluations, some inpatient consultations. Student will also attend multidisciplinary case review meetings and other various didactic conferences associated with each clinic. Interested students should already have strong preference to one of the ambulatory clinics listed and have expressed a future residency interest during their pediatric interest meetings with the Clerkship Director. Students are strongly encouraged to seek out the faculty associated to their preferred clinic to receive approval to rotate through that clinic. After approval the student will need to email PED 2115 contact listed above to enroll in the course. Students approved for PED 2115 will meet their UTSW requirement for completion of an ambulatory rotation upon successful completion of PED 2115.
