CN 5303W Sports Nutrition

This course covers the basic and advanced topics of sports nutrition within the scope of the registered dietitian nutritionist. Topics include fluids and electrolytes, carbohydrates, protein, weight management, vitamins and minerals, dietary supplements and ergogenic aids, and special population concerns such as vegetarianism and diabetes as applied to athletes and active individuals. Students will have the opportunity to investigate sport-specific nutrient requirements, evaluate sports nutrition supplements, and analyze research related to macro or micronutrient intake and sports performance or recovery.
