DPT 5335 THERAPEUTIC INTERVENTION II

This course is designed to build on previous basic exercise knowledge and techniques when developing an integrated patient intervention program for the upper/lower extremities and spine. Students will learn to consider factors such as stage of tissue healing, surgical procedures, patient medical history, impairments and functional limitations when properly implementing exercise and physical agents to meet patient goals. They will recognize indications, contraindications, and precautions for the applications of therapeutic exercise and physical agents. This course provides the foundation needed in clinical decision making regarding patient care and recovery, as well as exercise programming and progression. Evidence of efficacy will be addressed with all interventions. Concepts are presented in lecture and practiced in the laboratory.
