PUBH 5103W Manuscript Writing (Online)
Manuscript writing is a student-led, interactive, and engaging course designed for graduate students in clinical and public health research fields. Throughout the course, students will comprehensively explore the manuscript writing process, including understanding the structure and components of a scientific manuscript, strategies for clear and effective writing tailored to diverse audiences, effective literature reviews and citation practices, techniques for presenting data and results, and navigating the peer review process as well as responding to reviewer feedback. Through a flipped classroom setting, students will watch assigned video modules while writing their independent manuscript section and meet as a class for peer review and group discussions. Students who have a current project near dissemination may work on writing their own manuscript as their selected independent project for this course. By the end of the course, students will improve confidence and feel empowered in drafting a complete manuscript suitable for submission to a peer-reviewed journal for their research.
