HSS 5315H Introduction to Healthcare Management
This is a course on health care systems, and ambulatory management. The course reviews the essential skills to operate both an acute care facility and ambulatory division. The course will review: governance (not-for-profit and for-profit organizations), employee culture, clinical excellence, regulatory obligations, patient experience, strategic planning, competitive forces, integration, change management, human resources (labor negotiations), physician relationships, academics and innovation, operations, capital and operational P&L management, facilities management, material and supply management, revenue and expense management, patient volume, government and commercial payors, payor mix, health law and ethics, lean process improvement and project management, government and community relations, volunteers and public relations.
