Curriculum

The UTHealth School of Public Health coursework begins the summer prior to matriculation in Medical School. The curriculum includes courses in the five basic public-health disciplines (epidemiology and disease control, biostatistics, health promotions and behavioral sciences, environmental and occupational health, management, policy and community health) plus Advanced Public Health coursework. Completion of the degree also requires a semester practicum of 180 hours in a public-health setting that is typically completed during the summer after the first year of Medical School, and a master’s thesis, other written product, or capstone course.
