SUR 2199 SPECIAL TOPICS

This clinical, writing and research rotation is individually designed by the student and faculty member that will serve as the supervisor for the course. The goal of this elective will be to provide flexible time for students to proceed with interviews in general surgery or surgical subspecialties. This elective will only take place at the VANTXHCS. This course will require two weeks of clinical activities either in general surgery or in one of the following surgical subspecialties (ENT, Urology, Ophthalmology, Vascular surgery, Plastic Surgery, or Neurosurgery at the VA). Please note that orthopedic surgery is not currently available. Students will then have a two week period of time to write a case report that will need to be submitted for possible publication. Submission of the case report will be required to be able to complete the elective. Acceptance of the manuscript is not required. Students will need to contact the course coordinator to design their individual schedule.
