MM 5206 PRINCIPLES OF MICROBIOLOGY

This course provides an overview of fundamental aspects of virology and bacteriology, including: viral replication, viral host interactions, bacterial structure, physiological processes of bacteria, and viral and bacterial virulence factors. In addition, this course provides a primer for methods commonly used in microbiology to analyze DNA and proteins, to manipulate viral and bacterial organisms, and to study microorganisms in the context of in vitro model systems.
