CLP 5202 TRAUMA-INFORMED CLINICAL PRAC

This elective focuses on integration of trauma-informed therapy approaches as a cross-cutting competency of ethical clinical practice. Exploring trauma primarily from an attachment perspective, students will learn about empirically-based treatment approaches and practical applications for therapy/intervention. The class opens with learning about trauma and related psychological impact/sequelae, as well as review of assessment approaches for trauma to determine appropriate treatment modalities. Students will learn about different trauma therapy models, to include synthesis with multicultural models and mind-body integrative approaches. As the final project for the class, students will choose a client and write a case conceptualization focused on integrating trauma theory and research with trauma therapy intervention. Students will also present their cases to the class. Grading will be on a pass/fail basis, with much focus on class participation and engagement with the learning process.
