PSY 2115W INTRO TO BIOMEDICAL ETHICS
This is a remote, online full time one-month elective (4 weeks) involving 4x/week x 4 weeks virtual encounters with students, with associated preparation for discussions, reading, and writing. Classic and emerging issues in bioethics and clinical ethics are addressed in the 16 modules. The modules, in order, include: treatment refusal, critical thinking about ethics (2 sessions), beginning of life, end of life, social justice in medicine, transplantation ethics, ethics in clinical research, ethics in basic research, genetic enhancement, pharmacological and neurotech enhancement, AI-based health surveillance, understanding moral distress, cutting/pasting in electronic med record, clinical ethics committees and consultation.
