Fitness for Participation in UT Southwestern Activities

Throughout their educational experiences at UT Southwestern, learners must be held to the ethical and professional standards of their chosen professions. Impaired learners can have a negative impact on the learning and working environment, and may present a safety hazard to themselves, others, or the public. Accordingly, it is UT Southwestern policy that all learners must be able to participate in UT Southwestern-related activities in a fit and safe manner. Learners must not be incapable of participating in UT Southwestern-related activities because of intoxication or other impairment, regardless of whether these activities take place on property or in buildings owned or controlled by UT Southwestern. Learners are expected to manage their health and behavior so that they can participate in UT Southwestern-related activities in a safe, productive, and effective manner.
