PDRT 5117 INDIVIDUAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN
This course, which is a requirement for each Postdoctoral Training Certificate, is comprised of writing an IDP following guidelines from the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology. This planning process, initiated by the postdoctoral scholar, identifies the scholar's professional and development needs and career objectives. The plan must include feedback from the research mentor. Writing and discussion is done at the convenience of the scholar and mentor with completion verified during the term of registration; there is no class attendance. The learning objectives of this course are professionalism (such as following professional practices when discussing your research and career plans with your mentor), communication skills (such as communicating your expectations), and leadership and management skills (such as managing your research project and career planning).
