Withdrawing from the MSTP

A student who is enrolled in UT Southwestern’s Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) and pursuing a dual M.D./Ph.D. degree may withdraw from the MSTP and remain enrolled in either the M.D. program in the Medical School or the Ph.D. program in the Graduate School only with prior approval from the Deans of both schools. Approval will be based upon the student’s academic performance, degree progress at the time of withdrawal, and space available in the student’s desired program.

Students who are dismissed from the MSTP for any reason, academic or disciplinary, may not remain enrolled in either the M.D. program in the Medical School or the Ph.D. program in the Graduate School, and also may not reapply for admission into any UT Southwestern school or program. Dismissal is a permanent separation from UT Southwestern.
