Requirements for Admission

Applicants for the Master of Public Health must:

1. Complete a baccalaureate degree in any field prior to admission;

2. Complete a personal statement to include:

   1.  Your reasons for pursuing an M.P.H.

   2. A clear and concise description of your relevant public health experience

   3. Why you feel UT Southwestern might be a good fit for you.

3. Complete the online application accessed on the admissions page; and

4. Submit at least three letters of recommendation.

Currently, the Master of Public Health only accepts full-time students. Selection for admission to the Public Health Program is highly competitive and is based on the criteria outlined in the Evaluation of Applicants page.

Applicants for the M.D./M.P.H. Dual Degree must:

1. Apply and receive admittance to the M.D. program at UT Southwestern;

2. Complete a personal statement to include:

   1. Your reasons for pursuing an M.P.H.

   2. A clear and concise description of your relevant public health experience

   3. Why you feel UT Southwestern might be a good fit for you.

3. Complete the dual degree online application on the admissions page.

4. Dual degree applicants may opt to use their medical school letters of recommendation or submit up to 5 additional letters.
