DERM 2001 EXPLORATION DERMATOLOGY

This is a 2-week introductory course enabling the student to explore the field of dermatology. The student will learn about the scope of practice, frequently encountered pathology/diagnoses, and specialty specific diagnostic procedures. The purpose of the course is to allow the student the opportunity to explore a career in the specialty in order to make further career plans. While there is exposure to clinical dermatology and some online coursework encompassing some aspects of dermatology, this elective is not designed to provide content suitable for a firm knowledge base in dermatology including understanding how to appropriately consult dermatology. If the student is interested in acquiring this skill set, we recommend the following electives: 4301 (Outpatient Dermatology for the Dermatologist) or 4304 (Outpatient Dermatology for the Generalist).
