DERM 1901 SEL - DERMATOLOGY INPATIENT

This Selective is a course that should be taken at the end of the Clerkship Phase or during the Post-Clerkship Phase of the curriculum. The Dermatology Selective is considered a “sub I” in dermatology, thus an excellent knowledge base in dermatology is a necessary prerequisite to this course. The Dermatology Selective is rigorous and encompasses a busy inpatient consult service and includes after hours call responsibilities.  This will provide a deeply immersive experience in consultative dermatology and complex medical dermatology. Students will be expected to function at the level of a resident and will be asked to evaluate inpatient dermatology consults; generate a history, physical exam, and assessment/plan; and follow patients longitudinally generating progress notes. The course will be graded Pass/Fail.
