Withdrawing from the MSTP

A student who is enrolled in UT Southwestern’s Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) and pursuing a dual M.D./Ph.D. degree may withdraw from the MSTP and remain enrolled in either the Ph.D. program in the Graduate School or the M.D. program in the Medical School only with prior approval from the Deans of both schools. Approval will be based upon the student’s academic performance, degree progress at the time of withdrawal, and space available in the student’s desired program. For students enrolled in the Medical Scientist Training Program, dismissal from either the PhD or MD program operates as a permanent dismissal from UT Southwestern.
